줄거리 : 순진하고 밝기만 했던 경아(안인숙)는 첫사랑에게 버림받은 아픔을 이겨내고 중년 남자 이만준(윤일봉)의 후처가 된다. 그러나 그는 의처증으로 아내를 자살하게 한 과거가 있다. 경아는 낙태한 과거 때문에 그와도 헤어져 술을 가까이하게 되고, 동혁(백일섭)에 의해 호스티스로 전락한다. 화가인 문오(신성일)를 알게 된 경아는 그와 동거를 시작하고, 서로 닮은 점을 보듬으며 나름대로 행복한 삶을 보낸다. 그러나 동혁이 경아를 찾아오고, 동혁의 협박에 경아는 문오를 떠난다. 심한 알코올 중독과 자학에 빠진 경아의 곁을 동혁마저 떠나고, 문오는 경아를 찾는다. 경아의 집에서 새벽이 되도록 잠든 경아를 지켜보던 문오는 돈을 머리맡에 놓아두고 피폐해진 경아를 남겨둔 채 방을 나온다. 술과 남자를 전전하던 경아는 어느 눈 내리는 날, 고향의 어머니를 찾아간다. 경아는 산속에서 수면제를 먹고눈 속에서 잠이 들고, 문오는 죽은 경아의 재를 강에 뿌리며 경아를 떠나보낸다.

SYNOPSIS : Kyeong-A, deserted by her first love, marries to a mid-aged man Lee An-Jun as a second wife after recovering from her pain. But she divorces him too because she was pregnant before. She begins to drink and degrades to the status of a barmaid by Dong-Hyeok. Later she meets Mun-Oh a painter and they start to live together. However Mun-Oh leaves her due to her serious alcoholism and self-torture. On a snowy day the next year, a young woman is found dead and she is Kyeong-A. That is a scream of a city that trampled down a naive and good-natured woman's life.
